Is anonymous WHOIS worth it?

Numerous registrars offer private registration of your domain. This means they substitute their contact information in place of yours. You still maintain ownership but they serve as a proxy for your domain. After all, a lot of registrars charge for this service. The publication of their home address is one concern that many domain owners have. A private phone number would be available to anybody who looked up their domain in the WHOIS database. You can then change the address to the PO Box number and could rent a separate email address or voicemail number. But in such a way, you would maintain all the authentic information on the WHOIS database.
